Dress Code King James’s students, parents, staff and governors are proud of the school’s dress code. Sixth Formers are asked to support the main school by wearing uniform smartly and in the spirit of a business environment. As Sixth Formers are role models for younger pupils, for example as helpers in lessons and mentors, the spirit in which students dress is very important to the whole school. The basics are: Suit Sixth Form tie Plain white, grey, blue or black shirt, suitable for wearing with the Sixth Form tie. No patterned, checked or striped shirts. Plain black or brown shoes* or boots. Or Trousers Sixth Form tie Plain white, grey, blue or black shirt, suitable for wearing with the Sixth Form tie Plain V-necked jumper in black, cream, red or grey No patterned, checked or striped shirts Plain black or brown shoes* or boots Or Royal Stewart Dress Tartan kilt with plain black tights Plain white or cream shirt or blouse with a collar, worn with a plain long-sleeved jumper or cardigan in black, white, cream, red or grey (round or V-neck). They should not be of a large or patterned knit.Plain long or short- sleeved top in black, white, cream, red or grey can be worn instead of the shirt/jumper combination Plain black shoes* As with main school: Small/subtle earrings may be worn. No extreme piercings. No visible tattoos. No extreme hairstyles or hair colours. No outdoor clothing or hoodies in school. All jumpers & tops must be plain (no logos or visible branding). No trainers or pumps. * Shoes – must be a plain black shoe style. It is preferrable that students wear the formal shoe, but we will now accept the plain black, flat-soled leather ‘leisure shoe’ style as an alternative. Trainer-soles are not permitted. Any heels should be low (no more than 3cm high). We do not allow boots, stiletto or kitten heels, backless or open-toed shoes, pumps or any styles we deem unsafe or unsuitable. As well as school wear and associated items such as lab coats, a wide range of sports equipment and clothing is also available for Sixth Form students from Rawcliffes. This includes trainers, tracksuits, football boots, kit bags and other sports items such as tennis rackets, cricket bats, footballs and associated protective gear. Mobile Phone Use: Sixth Form students have the privilege of using their mobile phones in the Common Room of the Sixth Form Centre ONLY. Once a student leaves the Sixth Form Common Room all mobile phones, headphones, earbuds / pods should not be used around main school. 47
