Exams and Assessment Information • Two 1 hour and 45 minutes written exams for each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics (6 exams in total). (Each Exam is worth 50% of final grade for each of the 3 separate GCSEs) • Up to 10 required practical per science, the methods and analysis of which will be assessed in the main exam What will I learn about? • the same content as combined science, plus extra content to make up the three separate GCSEs • (in Biology) monoclonal antibodies and their uses in medicine. The brain and the eye, thermoregulation in mammals • (in Chemistry) transition metals, organic synthesis, including alcohols and carboxylic acids, and more detailed chemical analysis techniques • (in Physics) lenses, seismic and ultrasound waves, nuclear fission and fusion, the physics of space, life cycles of stars and red shift • Triple Science content allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the topics covered and is strongly recommended for any students thinking about taking any science A levels. TRIPLE SCIENCE How will I learn? • Performing experiments and practical assignments that form the basis for work that is now integrated into the main exams • Experimental analysis and interpretation of new information • Discussion, group work, modelling and past paper questions • Regular knowledge checks Where could Science take me? • Triple Science is an excellent starting point for taking A Levels in Science subjects, which in turn can lead to a multitude of different scientific career paths from forensics to engineering. Science skills gained today can be the pathway to a great career tomorrow. From the green energy revolution and development of electric vehicles to novel medicines and vaccinations or tackling climate change and plastic pollution, Science is having a bigger impact than ever on almost all aspects of our lives. Taking Science at school could help produce the next generation of scientists and engineers and provide exciting education and employment possibilities in research and career sectors that don’t even exist yet!
