Exams and Assessment Information • Two practical internally assessed units, Year 10 Digital Graphics (R094) and Year 11 Interac- tive Digital Product Skills (R097) • One externally assessed theory based unit com- pleted at the end of the course in Year 11 • The course is marked pass, merit or distinction at Level 1 and Level 2 to allow everyone to learn at their own level. You can even achieve a distinction * at Level 2 for the best work done What will I learn about? • How we go about planning to create a digital product, including mood boards, storyboards and time management tools • How digital graphics are important in modern society and how we create and publish them. This will include using different software applications to plan and create digital graphics for a range of purposes • How video or sound is edited for use on the web so that you can produce high quality video and audio podcasts (YouTube, etc.) • Create an interactive digital product using web design software • Digital photography, including how cameras work and how images are manipulated for different purposes CREATIVE iMEDIA How will I learn? • Creating a range of digital products used by businesses • This is a hands on course, using software and hardware to develop products, mimicking real business practices • Researching current trends in digital marketing, producing reports on current and future software and hardware Where could Creative iMedia take me? • The natural progression would be King James’s Sixth Form to take the BTEC Level 3 Information Technology (A Level) • Many college courses benefit from an IT qualification of this type. • Many apprenticeships also require the study of IT at some level; Technical Awards are perfect for this. Being creative is a massive pull factor when businesses look to take on students, understanding new technology is often something they look for. Additional Costs and Entry Requirements • There are no additional costs, all software and hardware will be provided by school • There are no specific entry requirements for Technical Award in Creative iMedia • This course can be taken in conjunction with Computer Science Course Specification & further information • OCR Cambridge National Certificate in Creative iMedia (J834) www.ocr.org.uk • Useful websites: include online tutorials in the use of Adobe Rocket Cake, Photoshop, Premier, YouTube and other content sharing websites. 20
