Exams and Assessment Information • A combination of practical and written work • Controlled assessments comprising of two script and one devised performance (60% of final grade) • A one hour and 45 minute exam based on your set text and a review of a live theatre performance (40% of final grade) What will I learn about? • Scripted and devised performance skills • Directing and leading others • How to communicate effectively and contribute to team work and presentations • Your ability to develop your imagination & creativity • Howtodevelop the knowledge, skills andunderstanding of how to create effective performances • Practical exploration of one set play with analysis, performance and direction • How to develop, hone and improve your performance skills • How to apply dramatic design and operate technical equipment • How to review and appreciate live theatre performances • A range of theatrical styles - both naturalistic and non- naturalistic DRAMA How will I learn? • Taking part in a vast range of practical tasks from individual to small and whole group in order to challenge your skills and abilities • Watching live theatre performances and exemplar practical work • Researching, rehearsing and visiting theatre productions • Exploring the stage space and learning how to utilise a performance space • Operating lighting and sound equipment • Practising and developing essay writing skills • Directing & leading others • Team work Where could Drama take me? • Drama GCSE provides an excellent preparation for a performing arts career and enhances your ability to be a strong and effective communicator within the working world. • It is highly effective in developing your confidence and ability to work as part of a team. • It will provide a great foundation into any communications, events management or a teaching career. Additional Costs and Entry Requirements • Theatre visits including tickets and travel • Small voluntary contribution towards visiting threate companies and directors • There are no specific entry requirements for GCSE Drama 2
