Exams and Assessment Information You will be assessed through project work (no exams) in response to briefs. • Unit 1: Performing • Unit 2: Creating • Unit 3 Performing Arts in Practise For each unit you will be given a scenario and will need to undertake a number of tasks. • The projects for Units 1 and 2 will each take 10 hours (each unit contributes 30% of final grade) • The project for Unit 3 will take 20 hours (40% of final grade) What will I learn about? • Scripted, devised and optional musical theatre performance skills • The role of a director, actor and designers • How to communicate effectively and contribute to team work and presentations • The skills needed to produce a successful performance of an existing work • How to create and refine your own original work in performing arts such as choreography, devising and designing lighting, costumes and set • A range of theatrical styles - musical, epic naturalistic, non-naturalistic, physical • How to review the process of creating and performing theatre • The professional industry and how to respond to a commission and pitch your own ideas PERFORMING ARTS How will I learn? • Taking part in a vast range of practical tasks from individual to small and whole group to challenge your skills and abilities • Researching, rehearsing and visiting theatre productions • Exploring the stage space and learning how to utilise a performance space • Directing and leading others • Operating technical equipment • Presenting your ideas professionally to others • Practising and developing writing and reflection skills Where could a Technical Awaed in Performing Arts take me? • Performing Arts provides excellent preparation for a performing arts career and enhances your ability to be a strong and effective communicator within the working world. • You will develop a range of skills attractive to employers, colleges and universities; communication, confidence, stamina, time-management, self-discipline, research, independent learning, organisation and problem solving. • It will provide a great foundation into any communications, events management or a teaching career.
